Hello 2016, Stampin Up, time with family and Journaling Forum

I've been MIA for so long but inspired by my attendance at a Journaling Forum hosted by the fabulous Jamie Ridler of Jamie Ridler Studios I'm back.  More on this later

Happy 2016.  It has been so long since I've blogged.  Life hasn't exactly been great but I'm feeling stronger and I feel I'm getting my spark and mojo back.  I've still a few issues to sort that will help me on my recovery but I'm taking life as it comes and trying to be positive.

well what has happened since I last blogged.

Firstly I have become a Stampin Up Demonstrator.  I have been looking at becoming one for a couple of years but finally I have taken the plunge.  I am enjoying it so far, I absolutely love the products and I have a great upline in Louise.  Its still very early days and I'm using it more as a hobbyist but I've my first hostess party in a couple of weeks which I am looking forward to.

You can find me at if you are interested in Stampin Up.

Secondly my sister in law Rhea finally got her visa to live in the UK.  She arrived at the end of November and it so nice that AJ and I was able to spend time with my brother and her in the Christmas and New Year holidays.  I am so pleased for R and Rhea.   They have been married for over two years and it has taken so long for her to be allowed in the country so now they can enjoy their married lives together.  I am so proud of them both for their commitment and determination and faith whilst they have been waiting for them to be together.  It is so  nice to get to know my sister in law better as the last time we saw her was the day after their wedding in the Philippines.

Thirdly AJ and I are now the very proud parents of another fur baby.  Eric is a five year old black and white cat that we adopted from the local cat shelter.  He is absolutely gorgeous, full of character and has been abit of a life saver for me over the last few months.  We both love him to bits.  Kiwi and Eric seem to get along OK, but we are still having problems with Willow.  She seems to be very jealous of Eric and is very grumpy when he is around.  I'm sure she will get used to him eventually.

That's my major news really.

Going forward into 2016 I am concentrating on what makes me happy and have decided to start putting myself first for once.  I am doing things that are making me fulfilled and things that are beneficial to my soul.

One of the practices I have been sticking to at the moment is daily journaling.  I love to write and I have neglected this part of me for so long.  It is deep ingrained in me and I believe I have suppressed my need to write for so many years because I didn't feel I was good enough or articulate enough and so many other reasons why I shouldn't write.  But I have had a voice whispering me for a while now saying I should let go of all my fears and just let go and write.  It can be just a sentence or a whole blog post, but I am writing.

I have been immensely inspired on my journey by Jamie Ridler, and yesterday I took part in her first Jamie Ridler Studios forum on Journaling.  It was so awesome to be in a forum with so many inspirational and creative people.  We discussed why we journal, how we journal, what we put in our journals, what do we use to journal, and the importance of journaling in our lives.  It was a great experience and I am so glad I took part (even though a little "You're not good enough" voice keep whispering in my ear - I am so glad I ignored the voice).
It has inspired me to get back to this neglected blog and thus here I am - yeehhh!!!

Jamie is also doing a great Do Good initiative called Give a Girl a Journal where she will be giving Journals to Girl to encourage them to journal.  She is launching it on February 14th, so please visit her site for details of this on the day.  It's going to be great !!!!

Anyway I will end today saying it is great to be back.  I am hoping to do more regular posting on this blog ( I have notebooks full of ideas) though I am not putting any pressure on myself like I used to.

Good evening from Pickle Land, I hope to speak to you very soon

Lots of love, Lesley xxxx

Book Review January - The Broken Man by Josephine Cox

Josephine Cox is not an author I would normally pick, but I received the book as a present from my mother in law.

The main theme is about the consequences of domestic abuse.  It tells the story of Adam, a young boy who had to bear things no little boy should ever see, and also the tale of Anne who was abused by her husband.  Though the theme was about domestic abuse, it was wasn't graphic or gory which I was glad about.  The tale weaved between Anne's story and Adams story which interlinked, and was a fairly easy read.  I was slightly disappointed with the ending of the book and thought it hadn't fully ended the story of Anne and didn't even mention how she would have felt about finding out her husbands childs link to her best friend.  I also found the aforementioned coincidence too far fetched.

Overall it was an OK book.  Not my favourite book of all time, but very readable all the same.  As the first book I have read of hers I don't know if this is the usual ty…
