Craft room(s), cross stitch and scrapbooking

Over the past few years, I have built up a small fortunes worth of lovely craft goodies - papers, embellishments, pens, craft tools and equipment etc and because I seem to collect but not use, I've got to the point where it is spilling into several rooms, and I'm not sure where everything is and also not exactly sure of what I actually have got.

Hence I have set myself the task of going through everything, organise it better and ultimately start using up what I've got. This is why I have transferred alot of my stuff into the dining room as the table is the largest surface for me to use and I have been doing my scrapbooking there of late. I've even dug up my cuttlebug and cricuit which have hardly been used and sadly gathering dust.

AJ is very understanding in letting me take over our house with all my crafty goodies. He says as long as I am happy, he doesn't mind. He incidently has sole use to our little box room where he can play his computer games and go up and wat…

A Little about Me

To give you a little insight into what I like, I would like to share a few of my favourites

I love reading but I must confess that I haven't read as much as I would like this last year or so but I am determined to address this and have challenged myself to read at least one book a month for the next year. I'll keep you updated of my progress - if any.

These are a list of some of my favourite books or authors

I love Adriana Trigiani books, and have been a fan since her first book Big Stone Gap.

Other writers I love is Amy Tan and Fannie Flagg. All write so beautifully and in my head, their books are like mini movies.

I have to add Jane Austen to my list- I'm not really one for the classics, but she is an exception.

Other books I have enjoyed is the Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, To Kill a Mockingbird ( a favourite since reading this at High School in English) and a book recommended to me by my Mother in Law called The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albo…

The Ickle Pickles

If you had asked me a couple of years ago if I was a cat or dog person, I would most definitely have said dog. However that all changed thanks to a cat called Fudge. Fudge started to visit us in the summer of 2008. We knew he wasn't a stray, but was visiting us because his owners has a new kitten and he felt left out, and we obliged him by giving him abit of attention and fuss. Fudge made us think that having a cat wouldn't be a bad idea and to the delight of my friend who volunteers at the local Cats Protection League we decided to get a cat. Our friend recommended to us, that as we work all day, it may be a good idea to get two cats so that they would keep each other company, so hence we decided to get two cats.
When we visited the Cat shelter, a little black and white cat who the shelter called Molly who we decided we were going to call Kiwi came and greeted us and instantly we fell in love with her. She had a little 3 month old kitten who the shelter called Diddy who we dec…

Starting out

Last Sunday I decided to stop dreaming of setting up a blog and actually do it.

I had been looking at the link for Blogging for Scrapbookers at for ages and even though as usual I was too late to enrol when it was live, decided that the course would at least springboard me into setting up "Adventures in Pickle Land" and that I could go through the prompts in my own time and at my own pace whilst I am finding my feet.

Hence the last few days I've been doing a few scrapbook pages that I can add to my blog, took some pictures requested in the course of which much mayhem was created as Kiwi and Willow thought it was a game and started lying on my scrapbook pages and trying to get in the photos. Very cute though.

This pic signifies the start of my journey. As you can see, it shows my folder that I am keeping my notes in, a notepad, my laptop, a scrapbook page and some papers and embellishments I've been using of late.

As mentioned I have also been doing a few scr…

Welcome to Adventures in Pickle Land

Hi. My name is Lesley and this is my very first blog page on Adventures in Pickle Land.
I am a scrapbooker, cardmaker and now novice blogger, and after much encouragement from my wonderful husband AJ, have taken the plunge to share my adventures in craft and in life in general (not that I think it is that interesting - ha ha).
I am just building up my confidence to show some of my scrapbook pages and cards (once I can work out how to download them from my camera onto my laptop) and hope that other people may enjoy them too (and not just AJ- I'm sure he says they a great just to keep me happy).

I wouldn't say I have any particular style at the moment as I'm fairly new to scrapbooking, but I am enjoying myself all the same and am always inspired by magazines, other blogs and everyday life.

I am currently scrapping a wedding album - AJ and I got married in the beautiful Lake District on a very wet day in September 2009 and hoping to show some pages soon. Plus I've got our …
